An email to the CEO, Tata Croma



Dear Ajit,

I'm writing to you because of a rather ridiculous set of events perpetrated by the staff at your call center. After 9 days of dealing with them I have reached a conclusion: they are incapable of making a phone call. This is ironic since they work in the aforementioned call center.

You see, I bought a 1.5 ton Croma Window AC on 27th May from your South Extension store in Delhi. (Invoice number: SLF02A04801003955). Nine days later it remains in the spot where your delivery men placed it.

I've made about 30 phone calls to your call center in the past nine days. These calls have averaged about 20 minutes each (Yes, I timed them). Most of the time was spent on hold, listening to a scratchy recording of Vivaldi's 'La Primavera'. This was interspersed with a female voice telling me to join Croma's "Extended Warranty Smile Club". Another irony, I realised. I had actually bought a two-year extended warranty for the AC. But I was NOT smiling. 

Anyway, I bore you. Let's get to the wonderful staff you have. I spoke with a number of them. Some of those stalwarts are Dharmesh, Ali, Pankaj, Prabjyot and their managers Anup and Samuel. I spoke with at least three others. But you know, so many new friends in such a short time. Hard to remember all their names.

Each one of these 'by the book' phone operators (they all use the same lines) told me this: "I am sorry for the inconvenience sir. We will organise it soon. Someone from the concerned team will give you a call back". I've been waiting for that call for nine days.

Ok, wait. That's not totally accurate. I did get one phone call from a technician today. When I told him my address - in Noida - he said: "Sir, I was given the address of D-14, South Extension 2, Delhi. I only do Delhi installations. I don't come to Noida". Now, the South-Ex address sounded familiar. You're not going to believe this. You've probably been there yourself. It's the address of YOUR STORE! Your brainy phone operators told the technician to come to YOUR STORE and install an AC! I'm not making this up. Really! That's what happened. I swear. God promise!

Ajit, imagine hearing thrice a day, for 9 straight days, that "someone will call you soon". And then you get that phone call. After nine days. And the guy says "Sir, I can't do it. Please call the office for a Noida technician". You know that rather crude street-term KLPD? I believe it could apply here. I'm sure you will agree.

Can you imagine having to live in the 45 degree heat of Delhi, sleeping at 1 a.m. because it's so uncomfortable, then waking up at 5:30 a.m. because it's already over 35 degrees? And you know the worst part? It's not even the heat. It's the knowledge that just a few meters away is a perfectly good, spanking new air conditioner, packed up in a box. No, I suppose you don't know the feeling. You're the CEO. If this happened to you, someone would lose their job.

Look, Ajit, I don't want anyone to lose their job. I'm trying to pay off my own EMIs. I wouldn't wish joblesness on anyone else. Not with the state of our economy, for sure. But I also don't normally have to email CEOs asking for help because their staff aren't "with it".

I'm sure you will agree that I don't exactly have too many options left. So please let me know that I can still have some faith in the Tata brand. I'd really like to come into your SMILE CLUB. Except, right now, I feel like the guy who's been asked to wait at the gate while secuity runs their checks.

UPDATE: About an hour after I hit 'send', I got a call from a gentleman called Sriram from Tata Croma's Okhla office. He apologised profusely and brought his senior technician Gurmeet on the call. Gurmeet said he would come by my home at 9:00 am this morning to install the AC.
He lied. Ok. Ok. That's just being snarky. Gurmeet rang my doorbell at 6:45 am. By 7:30 I had a fully-functioning AC cooling down my bedroom.
I only wish Tata Croma could have gotten this done without me having to email Ajit. But, you know, win some, lose some.

    1. Croma has the worst after sales service ever. I bought a VU led TV a few years back and also bought the extended warranty along with the TV. Now during the extended warranty term, the TV is giving trouble. As per VU technician, the TV needs to be changed and is covered under the extended warranty. VU and Croma do not have the same model in stock. So they are offering the lower credit value towards a new TV from them which is smaller in size. If I want something of the same size or similar, then I have to pay a large sum of money for a new TV even though the old one is under extended warranty. Horrible service by Croma. I registered the claim in July . claim number 176605. The Croma customer, VU team and Croma extended warranty desk have been passing my call around without a proper and acceptable solution for the past two month.

I too ,unkowingly, purchased a washing machine, top loading model (Item Code 52333 Croma W/M TL 6Kg CRAW 1105 for Rs. 12,191 with 2 yr warrenty and with additional payment of Rs. 799 registered for 2 more year extended warreny on 26 Oct 2013 in Chennai. The machine was satisfactorily working for a period of 7 months from the date of purchase. afterwards, it showed sign of repeated problems, not working, half-way stopping etc. I made almost telephonic call, every month and the service person used come late and do some repair work. Now , for the past 2 months is not working; even after my repeated phone calls, no one came to see it and repair it.I am still with the hope dialling to complaint. The CROM after sale service is very bad.

  3. I have buy windows AC last month but i m not certified with this product , its not full fill my requirement. I am facing cooling problem its not cooling properly i have already complaints regarding its and your tech eng also visited 2-3 time and he say this maximum cooling , i have also talk regarding your senior employee Mr. Manish Agrawal. i can't believe this TATA employee talking to this type such as unprofessional guy. I kindly request you please exchange this AC . I am very upset and painful of croma staff. Mr. Amit Agrawal told me you call me after 1 month so i can't exchange. This product no any use for me, So i kindly request you please solve my problem asap.

  4. I wonder how good a after sales service can be when I try to follow up on my repairing status of my Stereo set Croma DVD Stereo set and it is is nearly 2 months now Croma is not able to repair my dvd stereo set.

    I am really disappointed with such a big brand like Croma is not able to repair my set and then why have I purchased a Croma Brand when there is no after sales support?

    If I do not get my set in working condition I would let everyone know not to buy a croma product and take necessary steps to get my money back so that I can buy a better brand in the market.
    The set had been submitted at Croma Store,Crown Interior Faridabad.
    In spite of myself agreeing to pay the repairing charges amount of Rs 1500/- as said by your store manager I have not received my set.Why am I sold a product for an amount of Rs 8000/ approx when you do not have a after sales service.

    When I call the store no one picks up my phone.

    I have not received a response as of yet.No one is bothered to look into my issue.

  5. How Croma can be a Cheater ??? We bought Sony Vio new Laptop from Select city walk saket 110017. After 15 days laptop stopped working. we visited to Lajpat Nagar service Centre and we have told there same laptop was there for repair few months back. We took in writing and came to know Croma is cheating the People. Croma A TATA Enterprise is selling used, damaged, repaired Laptops as new Laptop. Croma is cheating the customers

    Croma insisted in giving me a miserable time and saying they would check with company and tell me... and did not tell by when they would come back... and the customer care lady insisted on telling that they would charge inspite of the manager asking her not to comment
    Why should one have to suffer like this... the resolution has to be there and there

  8. Beware of offers from Sterling Resorts. They offered us a 2 night, 3 days stay on a promotion with Croma.They repeatedly asked for the same details when we attempted the booking. Later, they denied the food vouchers, claiming that these were now stopped. Finally, they claimed that the offer with Croma is discontinued, but out of their magnanimity, they are willing to honor the stay only. Now the stay is actually only 2 nights and 2 days, as one must check out at 10 am and pay for the third day. No 3rd day ! Disgraceful, a gift offer must be honored in full and not selectively. Croma and others must be aware. The offer was given on purchases made at Croma. Sterling used the offer only to popularize their resort and once in, they would check you out.     I am writing this in complete dissatisfaction due to poor handling of Croma services. First complaint lodged on 9th July and today we are sitting on Aug 4, 2015 – but the complaint is still not resolved. They make false promises and take you for granted. Croma technicians are no good since they cannot troubleshoot a small problem. Croma had to finally call a trained technician from Whirlpool and that guy was immediately able identify the problem. The fan and the core board were faulty. I was promised by Croma that these parts will be installed on Monday 3rd but as I said they make false promises.

    I am constantly in touch with Mr. Mohan (9910898147) who is in-charge at Croma for calls/repairs. Mr. Moha does not believe in picking up the phone. You call him anytime of the day and he make sure to miss the call. Similarly his staff member Shilpa (8826774102) also does not pick up phones because these guys have no solution to my problems. Its been a month and Croma is taking things lightly and I am suffering in this summer season without a fridge.

    I MADE MY BIGGEST MISTAKE OF TAKING EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM CROMD VERY BAD DECISION. I SHOULD HAVE OPTED FOR WHIRLPOOL EXTENDED WARRANTY.


    Below list will keep on growing since Croma is doing a bad service. “Jack of all master of None”. Please don’t send me that standard reply after removing the people in the CC list.

  10. I am having a terrible time. I ordered two cordless panasonic phones and they(Croma) are making me run pillar to post. They do not register complaints on their toll free cutomercare(sic) number and ask you to register it on the website.The website frequently crashes and if you try to register a complaint it does not complete the process.This is frustrating.They gave me an airwaybill number of Blue dart that does not exist today! I was promised that someone would phone me back with respect to the order and no one has called. Never ever buy anything from Croma - they have a very poor service record and their customercare is ridiculous

  14. I think you should review your floor camera recording. You will see that on daily basis 5-10 instances are going on at your showroom. This is all because of unmature nature of your outlet incharge. Customers come to you considering TATA image. I am also an employee of this group but your employee is so rough that it seems he is appointed sue to some approach or by other manner.
    I am frequent customer and promising you that I will never visit to this showroom. Similar message is going to be communicated to all my friends.

  15. Had i gone through all that is written above, i would not have got entangled in this store. I bought an LG microwave on the 23rd october, and they left it for them to deliver the day next. However, it has been 13 days and it has not been delivered inspite of calls and mails everday in the customer care.

    I am mohan i have purchased a Micromax Led on 23rd Nov in croma store manthri square malleshwaram bangalore india after the instalation speakers wear not working giving complaints in customer care and visited the store 4 times spoken to the manager lot of times but not getting proper responce after 1 month they have replaced the tv with out remote i got doubt on product i told them to refund the amount with the store manager but the he is refusing and not giving any other number or mail id to esclate if i want mu money back if iam not getting any replay for this mail the next level would be nodal officer and consumer forume ( electronics and consumer goods ) i need a immidiate call back ..........? managers are speaking irresponsible and rude

I have purchased Aquasure Prime Water purifier on 26/01/2016 from charoma store at Phoenix market city kurla.on 15/02/2016 i booked the complained that water purifier is not working.technician arrived and declared that the purifier is bakwas and cannot be repaired,better to replace.When call center executive called me up about the issue I told the same what their technician told me.They again send one more faltu tech.on 22/02/2016 .he replace the faulty PCB(it was rusted).I want to know that how can a new machine can have a rusted PCB,means they have delievered me a second hand water purifier.

  19. We purchased a new TV from Bhyander coma store Samsung LED 48 inch Model UA48J5100ARLXL. on 18.AUG 2015. We faced issue regarding a black dote on TV screen and raised a complain for the same on 28th Dec 2015. After 2 days an engineer from Samsung came to check and replaced later panel.New panel had a major defect called dirty screen effect for which we again raised another complain and again same engineer visited and informed us that it is a major issue and took TV to Samsung workshop stating that it is a defect. After 24 hours engineer from Samsung called us and informed us that this is not a defect.I know that DSE is major defect and in long run this will cause visual problems in TV. From that day till today 3/3/16 (i.e. 2month) only telephonic conversation and email is going on and no action is being taken by Croma regarding replacement of TV. croma and samsung both are forcing us to take back that faulty tv set
    imagine there is no tv in my house from last two months.

    i am very sorry to tell you i lost my money to buy Croma LED 40 inch Television,

    your engineer came for demo, that time also tv was not working , He open TV and repairing then Tv working, now after 1 and half month again TV not working , i am feedup to call customer care , yesterday your team member called me 11 am morning she said coming 24 hours our engineer come and resolving your TV problem, but till engineer not yet come ..

    please help us ..kindly request you please try to understand our problem.

    I had complained about Bluestar Window AC 1.5 ton of low cooling on Mar 21st 2016. to Croma customer care no. and have reference no.BOW210316FS00038. Also to bring you notice that my prodct is under extended warrenty. Since 21st March Croma customer care are promising that the technician will visit to our place and that is not happen till date. I have been calling and asking every day day night to find out n status. but the reply I get is sir, your query is escalated and you will receive call from our side and your supervisor or Managers refuse to come on call to solve the issue. In this crouching heat my family suffered almost 12 days. what is the benefit of buying extended warranty with croma to their loyal customers. A brand like Tata behaving like worst than Govt departments.
    Hoping that this mail will reach to the eyeballs who are decision makers can change my view of looking at The way Croma functions.

I am facing the same problem, customer care always says that issues will be resolved in 24 hours , but no response from them, they only cheat their customers by saying that product will be delivered and will be installed in 72 hours, but no response from them, I have wasted lots of time to call customer care but all in vain,
    I will never suggest anyone to buy any goods from Croma,
    As after sales service too poor, no responsivenes, lack of professionalism

    CAN YOU PLZ LET ME KNOW SINGLE BENIFIT OF BUYING ANY THING FROM BRANDED "CROMA" RETAIL OUTLET?

    1> No process for customer complaint resolution in limited short time.
    2> Price higher than any other Local Retail outlet.
    3> Post sales service(No person in Croma understand this words).

    I have purchased Voltas AC from CROMA Outlet, Outer Ring Road - Banglore branch with InvNo:SLF02A060050024251 on 23/04/2016.

    Which comes with free "Everest Stabilizer".

    Delivery for the same is done 24/04/2016, without "Everest Stabilizer". So let me know how your supply chain is working?


    I realize about missing stabilizer on 27/04/2016 . For the same I contacted “CUSTOMER CARE” and they replied with it will be delivered in next 24 hrs and raised SR27041600101. Which is still Pending after passing committed 24hrs time line.
    Due to that Installing is getting delayed due to CROMA negligence. I have to suffer after spending some good amount of money. Which is not acceptable at all.

    If customer is not aware about missed goods you wont inform customer at all??
    And somehow customer find than you ask to wait for 24 hrs to get it delivered. In that case custmer has to wait for installation till the time missing goods will be delivered. And too due to negligence of BIG Brand CROMA's supply chain is not efficient.

    Where is customer service and satisfaction in this? So I can come back and purchase next time from CROMA.

    I have bought Hitachi SPLIT AC - 1.5TR HITACHI I CLEAN INVERTER COOL ONLY - R410A - RAU018ITEA from Tata Croma, Indirapuram , Delhi NCR on 20th February 2016. After installation on 27th Febraury 2016, we started the unit to use on 2nd or 3rd April 2016, we found that it is not cooling.

    Initially, we made complaints Hitachi customer support, somebody from Hitachi visited after 5 days and told after checking that there is no gas in the compressor. He also told that they will send people to fill gas from Hitachi. Since then no one has come & attended the problem even after several calls and complaints.

    After that we made a complaint with seller Tata Croma, Indirapuram, Delhi NCR on 24/04/2016 with the ticket number BON240416FS00006. After 4 days someone from Hitachi attended the complaint again and told the same that there is no gas and they will fill the gas next day. They came to fill after 2 days and failed fill because the gas they brought is not suitable for that unit. Again they came 3 days after to fill the suitable gas but failed to fill. They informed that the condenser in the unit is defective and they will replace it in 2 days. Since then, nobody is responding properly and not attending and resolving the problem even after continuous follow up.

    I bought the AC to use in summer at a cost of Rs. 42,491, but till now I could not use it because of the defective unit supplied to me and not resolving the problem so far.

    Kindly, take necessary serious action at the earliest. Since the issue is pending last 25 days

I purchased 2 acs with 2 year extended warranty but on lodging the complaint on 10/5/16 it is not attended and there is no response either. the customer support is not responding and they are like you do what ever u like or die we do not care. The person should be beware. The CEO has hidden his contact details and consumer courts in india every body knows that why croma is just enjoying.

Worst after sale of croma, i raised a compliant on 4th may for my 42 led but not body turn up for solution till yet. when ever i call to your customer care they are make me fool. they are arrange the call and sending the eng to my door step. Who will bear my cable operator bills & my ph calls bills which i make to you.

    I have call recording with me. if my problem will not resolve i drag you in court..

Worst service from croma.I purchased hp laptop from croma faridabad,after 2-3 days its starts restarting.I approached hp team and visited croma also.After that i called croma manager in RCT mall mumbai he picked the phone and keep it at side and also called croma faridabad from where i had purchased the laptop he talked in rude manner.still no support.

  43. I have a cooling problem of my split ac. Its been a month that i m calling the customer care everyday twice atleast only to hear that they r putting my request on high priority and i will get the service withing 24 hrs, How many twenty for has passed and im still calling them. Just wasting my phonebills. I amconsidering getting my work donefromoutside but i have paid forthe extended warranty, is it only to go thru this? Its frustrating.I will never buy croma products anymore. Extremely poor response fromcroma service providers!   47. I bought a water dispenser of Voltas on 11/06/2017, i.e. 42 days back but the new brand water dispenser was not working. We tried it for some days but the water was becoming hotter inside the dispenser. This one was not even tested in Chroma store. After having words with some customer executives over the phone, the complaint was filed and one of technicians was sent to us. Compressor was not working. He brought it with him but no one has not come again yet. The castles are being built in the air in the pretext of GST, NoatBandi, NasBandi (Well still to launch but no idea about repercussions after its launch. So silent is half consent forever here in India) excluding Akalmandi etc. A huge perplexed situation is kept like an adorned bouquet before me, what to do? After roaming around 3 times @ Chroma, having conversations over the phone thrice, now this is being advised that I should have been serene throughout the proceedings because the task would be accomplished as per convenient time of them, according to them moreover products were not available due to GST missile. I wondered as money was available in NoatBandi, but products were in shortage due to GST even not available in 30 days. Now I am quite sure that the products will be available by tomorrow even will be brought from the homes of Chroma Employees who believed in sluggishness @24*7. Is it really a home truth that our Country is facing dire consequences after NoatBandi and GST? What I always come to know that people try to take money in advance and show inability to do work in time because they have been facing so nasty dire consequences after the launch of two ballistic missiles NoatBandi and GST (As per Theory of absolutely wrong people infact)

  52. Customer service at Croma stinks. The sales people at Juhu Croma have been making false promises and then do not have the courtesy to call the customer. As a customer , I have had to follow up for the product , go to the store and ultimately ask for a refund. Even then they kept me waiting for more than 2 hours !!!! I am still waiting at the store for a refund for a product they don't have !!!!
